Help Massachusetts Go Green For Earth Day!
Frank Lamparelli Has Environmentally Friendly Fuels And Equipment
With the arrival of the 51st Earth Day on April 22, this is a time to pause and reflect on the changes that have been made since the first Earth Day.
Thanks to activism by so many, the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act came into being. They helped the United States dramatically reduce air and water pollution over the recent decades.
More, however, still needs to be done. The threat posed by climate change is another challenge and in response to that, Massachusetts is striving for net-zero carbon emissions by the year 2050.
There are many ways you can reduce your environmental impact both at home and on the job. Frank Lamparelli can help you with all of that through supplying our Bioheat heating oil blends, propane gas, and high-efficiency HVAC and home comfort equipment.
Bioheat®: The Future Of Heating Oil
The heating oil industry is also moving towards carbon neutrality as a whole—with Bioheat® directly contributing towards that goal!
Bioheat—if you’re not familiar—is a blend of ultra-low sulfur #2 heating oil combined with biodiesels, which are made from plant oils, animal fats, recycled restaurant cooking oils, algae, and other renewable resources.
The Bioheat delivered from Frank Lamparelli contains 20% biodiesel—dramatically reducing the greenhouse gas emissions almost immediately. In fact, the greenhouse gas emissions from our Bioheat are lower than that of natural gas!
Because it burns cleaner than traditional heating oil, it is also more energy-efficient, which also helps shrink your home’s environmental impact.
The Environmental Benefits Of Propane
Propane is named as an alternative fuel in both the 1990 update to the Clean Air Act and the 1992 National Energy Policy. Here are some reasons why propane is such an earth-friendly energy source in itself:
Propane reduces your carbon footprint. Propane combustion produces less than half of the greenhouse gas emissions made by electricity to produce the same amount of energy. And it contains less carbon than other fossil fuels like gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and ethanol!
Propane gives you better energy efficiency. Propane-powered appliances are—on average—more efficient, and sometimes much more efficient than their similar electric appliance counterparts. For example, a propane tankless water heater can save you up to 50% on energy costs compared with a similar water heater that’s powered by electricity. A propane clothes dryer saves energy by getting laundry dry 25% faster than electric dryers.
Propane is safer. In the rare event of a propane tank leak, it does not spill, pool, or leave a residue but instead dissipates into the air. It is non-toxic and won’t harm air, water, soil, aquatic life, or plant life.
Efficient HVAC And Home Comfort Equipment Can Help The Environment Too!
If your home’s furnace, boiler, central air conditioning, or water heater are getting up in years, they’re not as efficient as they used to be. That not only impacts the environment—as you are using more energy to keep your home comfortable—it impacts your bank account as you’re paying more in monthly energy costs.
Today’s home heating, cooling, and comfort equipment have more advanced technology and are much more efficient than equipment installed as recently as a decade ago. Installing new equipment such as an ultra-efficient furnace or boiler in your home can make a big difference in your environmental impact.
Even if you don’t upgrade to new equipment, regular maintenance helps keep your HVAC and water heater running at its best possible efficiency, minimizing your carbon footprint as much as possible.
