Three ways to make next heating season easier
Although you are probably still firing up your furnace or boiler to get you through the chilly Massachusetts mornings and evenings, heating season 2018/2019 is mostly in our rear view. It was certainly a rollercoaster half-year weather wise – and if you are a Frank Lamparelli net 30-day billing customer, you may have the heating bills to prove it.
But if you were a Frank Lamparelli Monthly Budget Payment Plan customer this past heating season, you barely felt a billing shudder or shake as temperatures swung 30 degrees or from day to day and week to week. That’s because our Payment Plan divides your annual heating bill into 11 easy and equal monthly installments (with one adjustment, up or down, per year), rather than jamming 80 percent of your payments into a four or five month period.
Here’s how our Payment Plan works:
- We project your fuel bills for the coming year based on your past energy use, projected heating fuel prices and a 30-year average weather estimate; we then divide that total into equal monthly payments for one year.
- Every June, we will balance your account. If you used more fuel than you paid for, your June bill will include the balance due. If you used less fuel than you paid for, we will apply that to the next budget program year.
- We monitor energy pricing and seasonality throughout the year and make adjustments as necessary, usually during the midpoint of winter. Budget is subjective to change due to extreme weather and/or oil price surge.
The benefit to all of this? You will know exactly what you’re going to pay for fuel every month no matter how much heating oil or propane you use. That kind of stability can really come in handy in today’s anything-can-happen weather world.
